Mount A reach final but B team lose in semi
MOUNT A defeated Pudsey Congs to reach the Dales Council's Pool Paper Mills Cup final.
Mount will be aiming to retain the cup when they meet Leeds Sikh in a repeat of last year's final.
Congs batted first and managed to reach a respectful 156, with Ashley Slater (39) top scoring, while Ibrahim Badat claimed 3-38.
Mount cruised to their target for the loss of just two wickets as Usama Sacha hit a magnificent 69 from just 35 balls.
Usama, who is playing his first season for Mount, is having a brilliant campaign. He is the leading run scorer and has blended with the team well.
Double-chasing Mount A maintained their at the top of Section A last Saturday as they beat Hawksworth at home. Mount posted 196-9 with Imran Patel (42) leading the way before Mohammed Iqbal claimed 5-24 as Hawksworth were bowled out for 164.
It was commiserations for Mount B last Sunday as they lost to Section C leaders Tong Manor in their Cawthorne Cup semi-final.
Batting first, Mount B were bowled out for 140 as Salim Hafeji top scored with 60.
Tong Manor were struggling at one point when they were reduced to 30-6 but an unbeaten seventh wicket partnership took them through to the final as they finished on 142-6.
Mount B made their highest score of the season last Saturday when they travelled to Whitehall in the league. Mount hit 360-9 as E Bismillah struck two sixes and 10 fours on his way to a superb 142.
Whitehall were then bowled out for 140 with Imran Patel taking 3-30.
This Saturday, Mount A travel to Pudsey Congs A in the Section A, while the B team have a double weekend in Section C (East) as they host Pudsey Congs B on Saturday before making the short trip to Sands Lane, where they meet local rivals Savile Stars. All three games start at 1.30pm.
Mount Under-9s meet Mirfield Parish Cavaliers twice over the weekend as they are at home on Saturday (start 10am) before travelling to Parish on Sunday.
