Northorpe up to second – Riley’s treble all in vain

Northorpe United moved up to second place Heavy Woollen Sunday League Division Two after a 5-3 victory over Heckmondwike Sports Club.

Adam Nichols (two), Kyle Douglas, Danny Clarke and Ryan Lee scored to see Northorpe 10 points behind leaders Railway East Ardsley with two games in hand.

Simon Willoughby (two) and Ben Hutchinson replied for the visitors.

Barr Street thrashed Thornhill 8-0 thanks to goals from Dan Stuart (two), Josh Rodgers (two), Anthony Furey (two), Andrew Lynch and Andrew Littlewood.

Chris Shaw and a John Scott penalty ensured Batley Irish Nash took maximum points in their 2-1 success at Rising Sun Liversedge (Ryan Russell).

Marsh’s James Riley bagged a hat-trick but it proved to be all in vain as hosts Ravenswharfe claimed a 4-3 victory.
