THE Bulldogs timed it to perfection. A storming late rally, crowned by two superbly-taken tries, snatched victory in the Northern Rail Cup final at Blackpool's Bloomfield Road.
Their success in a gripping game sent more than 2,000 supporters delirious as they enjoyed perhaps the best win in the club's history.
The years between major Cup victories and finals have been well catalogued. What won't be shown in record books was the effort put in for this success by a side, who were ridiculously under-rated, but had enormous self belief and no little ability.
Victory was sealed by Bulldogs Alex Brown who touched down for his second try with the final action of the match to give Batley a one point winning margin.
Earlier Jason Walton and Sean Hesketh tires had goven Batley the first half edge.
Gareth Moore helped tip the balance in Batley's favour with four conversions and a drop goal.
