Riders celebrate at Yorkshire Auto Cycle Union awards
The Yorkshire Centre Auto Cycle Union celebrated recent successes at their presentation evening last Saturday.
The event at Healds Hall Hotel, Liversedge, which was organised by Phyllis Stephenson, saw a toast to The Queen by Keith Blythe and Grace. After dinner Martin Crosswaite was the guest speaker before the trophies were presented by Mrs Helen Loney.
Dan Thorpe, Graham Tales and Richard Mellon took the trials expert, inter and novice trophies, Jack Price won the A class, Thomas Housecroft B and Sam Johnson C.
Yeadon and Guiseley’s Danny Cockshott collected the Arnold Moore Trophy for the best club, the best expert in centre nationals went to 100-plus national winner Dan Thorpe, while Russell Rooksby won the intermediate trophy and Mark Sunter the novice, which was collected by his sister Katy.
The inter centre youth team trial and adult team trial prizes both went to Yorkshire, managed by ACU President Julian Ford and Malcolm Rathmell respectively.
The enduro top prize went to Gavin Houson for the championship class, expert went to Declan Helliwell, Peter Ellis took clubman and Mark Marshall the sportsman class shield.
The best centre resident road racer was Grant Whitaker who also picked up the clubman racing trophy.
The best all-rounder (under 21) was Jonathan Richardson with Sam Yeadon the under 17 winner.
Richmond MC took the Jack Wood Trophy for the Scott Trial and James Dabill was a deserved winner of the trophy for the best Yorkshire centre rider in the Scottish Six Days Trial.
A vast array of raffle prizes ensured that nearly all went home with a ‘trophy’ and the DJ rounded off a very entertaining evening.
