HECKMONDWIKE and Carlinghow consolidated their safe mid-table position in Huddersfield Central League Section A with a four wicket home win over Leymoor.

Paul Cooper (4-29) and Ilyas Hasmi (3-26) helped skittle the visitors out for 144. Matthew Crowther led the charge to 145-6 with an innings of 39.

In Section E the second team earned the lions share of the points against Birchencliffe B.

Chasing 136-7 Heckmondwike and Carlinghow reached 137-7 with Moahmmed Shahban top-scoring with 34 with support from Andrew Crowther (28) and Martin Crossley (26).

Section B Crossbank Methodists, who are seventh, were condemned to a 21 run defeat at home to Cawthorne B.

Alan Firth with a haul of 4-24 and Paul Ratcliffe 3-32 helped to reduce Cawthorne B to 145-8. Neil James reached 39 for Crossbank but it was in vain as they were bowled out for 124.

There was more positive news of Crossbank B in Section C as they earned a six wicket win over bottom club Thornhill and Westborough.

Michael Parkin fired in to take 4-11 in nine overs to reduce the home side to 69 all out. He had good support from Andrew Clough (2-14), David Walmsley (2-10) and Steven Blackburn (2-17).

Martin Sellars made an ubeaten 26 as Crossbank B eased to 70-4 in 16 overs. They are third bottom after this win.
