Third book on Mirfield CC
MIRFIELD CC secretary Pat Neal has written a third book charting the history of the club.
Thanks To The Inghams is the story of Mirfield Cricket Club, which was formed around 1862.
The title of the book relates to two men, who could rightly be described as founding fathers of the club.
Joshua Ingham owned land on the Blake Hall Estate which was used as a ground by Mirfield CC in the 1860s while ET Ingham, the club's landlord, found them a new ground in 1895.
Mr Neal, 46, an opening batsman for Mirfield who has been involved with the club for several decades, said: "There are lots of interesting and intriguing stories connected with the history of the club and I hope members and local people will be interested in it."
Mr Neal has written two previous books about the club – 50 Not Out and George Herbert Hirst: Mirfield Cricket Club 1891.
Thanks To The Inghams is priced 5 and can be ordered from Dr Peter Davies at the University of Huddersfield by e-mailing p.j.davies@hud.ac.uk or call 01484 472405, or from Pat Neal, 12 Woodward Court, Mirfield, WF14 0PY.
