Vision take lead in Spen Valley Division One with 10-goal spree

VISION moved three points clear at the top of Spen Valley League Division One last Saturday as they triumphed 10-0 at Ravenswharfe Hotel.

Chris Lever fired a hat-trick for Vision, who held a 3-0 interval lead, while their other scorers were Aaron Kershaw, Matthew Knott, Michael Roebuck, Craig Kelly, Liam Hardy, Joe Petcher and 52-year-old Tibor Szabo.

Nearest challengers Oakwell and Marsh were in Spen Valley Challenge Trophy action while ALC climbed to fourth place, nine points behind Vision after a 7-0 win over Thornhill United Seniors B. Aaron Irvin and Dave Niblock both scored hat-tricks for the hosts who also had Ryan Mitchell on target.

Ilyas Lunat and Moh Shoiab scored as Norfolk struck late to seal a 3-2 victory at home to Howden Clough.

In the Premier Division Bradford moved six points clear of Jardy Boys after a 6-3 success at Fairbank.

Faisal Shabbir and Moh Shoiab (two) scored for Fairbank, who had led 3-1, but Bradford took the points thanks to Gurdip Singh (two), Matthew Knowles, Andrew Royston, Azir Gulzar and Steven Royston.

Thornhill United Seniors moved up to third-bottom after a 5-4 success at Quarry.

Brad Parker fired the winner while United also had Aaron Kennedy (two), Adam Kennedy and Danny Craven on target. Quarry’s strikes came from Brad Jackson, Jake Hirst, Kieran Jagger and Gaz Bowman while Jason Hinchcliffe turned in a fine display.

Jardy Boys kept up the pressure last Tuesday with a 12-2 victory at Mount with goals from Johnny Beverley (hat-trick), Ben McCann (hat-trick), Gary Foley (two), Joe Lyttle (two), Mernes Medic and Jason Campbell.

On Monday BD3 United moved up to second place, a point ahead of Jardy Boys and five behind leaders Bradford with two games in hand after a 5-2 home win over Fairbank United.

TVR United are fourth, a point adrift of Jardys, after a 3-2 home triumph over Ravensthorpe Rangers.
