Woodlands begin cup defence with victory

New captain Tim Jackson led the way for the cup holders as he top scored with 64 at the top of the innings to set the platform for them to post 208-7, in a match reduced to 33 overs per side, with Danny Glover claiming 3-43.

Josh Ardron hit 39 in reply, with support coming from Dan Wood (33), but Shepley were restricted to 150-8 as Liam Collins claimed 4-13.

Victory sets up a cracking second round tie this Sunday as Woodlands travel to fellow Bradford Premier League side New Farnley.

Yeadon were given a scare by Great Preston before scraping to a one-wicket win off the final ball of a nailbiting clash last Sunday.

Yeadon now face a trip to Morley in this Sunday’s second round.

Hanging Heaton eased into the ECB National Cup third round with a 100-run win over South Kirkby Colliery.

Gary Fellows (54) shared a 109-run opening stand with Imran Dawood, and went on to make 96, from 91 balls, including 13 fours and three sixes.

James Keen accelerated the innings with a brisk 38 not out, including three sixes, as Heaton closed on 228-6.

Tom Chippendale continued his good form, with 3-15, while there were two wickets apiece for James Byrne and Jamie Baulk as South Kirkby were dismissed for 129.

Heaton will entertain the winners of Barnsley and Wickersley in the third round.

They were due to play a third game of the Bank Holiday weekend on Monday but their Heavy Woollen Cup first round tie at Delph and Dobcross was called off for a second time due to an unfit ground. Heaton were due to make the 64-mile round trip for a third time last night (Wednesday).

Moorlands eased into the Huddersfield League Sykes Cup second round with a 159-run win over Lascelles Hall.

Zamurad struck 73, while J Maxwell crafted 51, as Moorlands posted 242-9, with J Dawson (4-26) pick of the Lascelles Hall bowlers. Hall were dismissed for 83 in reply as Andy Walker claimed 4-3.

It proved a profitable weekend for Moorlands, who recorded a 58-run victory over Rastrick in the Huddersfield League Championship on Saturday.
