Youngsters on Path to success

MIRFIELD’S Emma Bolt has continued he road to cricketing success after being promoted to the Women’s Gold Level of the Yorkshire Cricket Board’s Pathways to Cricket Excellence scheme.

The programme has been running for 25 years and is aimed at giving aspiring young cricketers the chance to gain expert coaching.

A trio of local girls - Phoebe Austin (Morley), Alexandra Bailey (Cleckheaton) and Ellis-Christie Lill, who plays for Birstall and Gildersome - will attend the Women’s Silver Level.

The Gold Level on the men’s scheme is just one stage below earning a contract with Yorkshire CCC and Birstall’s Jaymish Patel is one of only 19 to be accepted.

Cleckheaton’s Shahid Rehman is one of just 22 cricketers, who will attend the men’s silver level scheme.

Younger cricketers who have shown promise last summer, have been entered onto the Bronze level – the first level on the Pathways scheme.

The bronze scheme is split into three courses.

Max Chappell (Hunslet Nelson) and Thomas North (Gomersal) are on the Featherstone course.

Max Senior (Gomersal) is on the Bronze West I course at Woodlands, while seven local players will attend the West II course at Heckmondwike Grammar School. They are Mohammed Bhoola (Batley), Rishikesh Bhuskute (Liversedge), Jack Bleazard (East Bierley), Nick Kaye (Birstall), Alex Kennedy (Hunslet Nelson), George Senior (Gomersal) and Nat Skirrow (Hanging Heaton).
