The Yorkshire West Girls Under-16s recorded a 52-0 win away to Hull Under-16s in last Saturday’s representative match.

It was the Yorkshire West Girls who took the bragging rights in the Yorkshire and Humberside match as they warmed up for this Saturday’s clash against the all conquering Batley Bulldogs Girls in some style.

The first 10 minutes saw a closely fought contest with good attack and defence from both teams.

The Yorkshire West Girls skill stated to show as the Hull players tried after a tough physical start to the game.

Dewsbury Moor duo Charlotte Graham and Georgia Roachy along with Shaw Cross pair Megan Griffiths and Ameila Hudson were among the Yorkshire West scorers.

Other try scorers were Katy Tordoff, of West Bowling, and Illingworth’s Emmi Hardy along with the Queensbury and St Joseph’s trio of CJ, Megan Price and Savannah Adliridge as Yorkshire West racked up a half-century.

A festival of girls rugby league will take place at Dewsbury Rams Tetley’s Stadium this Saturday.

The Yorkshire West Girls Under-16s meet Batley Bulldogs Girls (kick off 10.30am) followed by a round robin Under-12s tournament involving teams from Dewsbury Moor, Batley, Fryston Warriors and Illingworth.

Dewsbury Rams will be promoting the development of a women’s section at the event when admission is £3 adults and free for Under-16s, with funds from the entrance going to cover the running cost of the day.
