Savile Town celebrated a magnificent history-making season at the Dewsbury District Cricket League's presentation event held last Wednesday evening.

Savile Town became the first team in the league’s history to complete a hat-trick of Section A title victories in 2016 and were delighted to pick up their awards.

Savile Town’s Nazakat Hussain was the Section A’s best bowler, picking up 35 wickets at an average of 9.2 in his side’s glorious championship winning campaign.

Dewsbury’s Rizwan Dar finished on top of the list in the Section A batting averages, having scored 457 runs at an average of 45.7.

Most Popular

He also made the season’s highest individual score of 111 not out against New Sanam on June 12.

Azad’s Saqib Hussain topped the Section B bowling averages having taken 19 wickets at 8.05 in helping his side win the championship.

KK’s Imran Khan was the division’s leading batsman, having scored 168 runs at an average of 28.

Haroon Shazad (KK) hit Section B’s highest score of the season when he made 143 on the way to helping his side make the season’s highest innings of 379 all out against Birkby All Stars on July 3.
