Band’s debut is 10 years in the making

The band has spent two years putting together the record, working with Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys and Neil Young producer Richard Woodcraft to create their debut, which will be released on March 18, 10 years after the band formed.

In its early years the band toured with Embrace, Kaiser Chiefs and Gawthorpe’s own The Blueskins. They split in 2006 and after a four year hiatus reformed in 2010 with former Blueskins drummer Paul Brown, from Batley.

Paul replaced frontman Jonny Woolnough’s dad BB Davis, who became the band’s painter, creating original pieces of art to be used as album and single covers .

In 2010 while they were recording their album with Richard Woodcraft the band released their first single from the sessions, L’Attention, which reached number one in the UK Coalition Chart in its week of release.

The band include in their influences Miles Davis, Henry Mancini, The Beatles, Jeff Beck, Hendrix, CAN and 70s Germanica.

Paul said: “We’ve really enjoyed putting the record together and we are all really happy with the results.

“It’s been fantastic to work with Richard Woodcraft – he has worked with some incredibly successful and talented artists so we are feeling really good about that.

“We have some good shows and sessions coming up around the record and we’re hoping the radio plays will snowball around the release date.”

The band releases its self titled album, and single Girls in Time, under their own Tomartyrs label on March 18.

The band is appearing live at Escobar in Leeds on March 22 to launch the album, and at the Hop in Wakefield on April 5.
