Yorkshire’s glory to be displayed at park event

The county’s rich heritage will be celebrated during a Yorkshire Day event.

Falconry,archery, animal rides and music from the Shepley Band and the Halifax Gilbert and Sullivan Society will be part of the event at Oakwell Hall Country Park on Sunday August 3.

Volunteers from Colne Valley Museum will be on hand to show visitors how to spin wool or make a ‘weftie’ ball.

And the Civil War Society will also display examples of daily life during English Civil War in the 1640s.

Originally a military observance,Yorkshire Day now promotes all things regional, with a food court and stalls selling local produce and crafts.

This year’s event takes place at the hall in Nutter Lane, Birstall, 11am-4pm.
