Healthy eating on move

HEALTHY eating is about to get easier thanks to a new business.

Shaw's Lifestyle Eating delivers healthy food to customers' homes and installs vending machines in workplaces which sell healthy snacks.

The venture is the brainchild of Mirfield man Chris Gaunt, who set it up with business partner David Lambert after realising it was difficult to find healthy snacks on the go. He said: "We are hoping to fill the lunch and snacking arena with healthy, tasty, nutritious options, including ready-made meals, soups, savoury snacks, fruit and nut bars seed and nut mixes, conveniently delivered to customers' homes or workplaces through our vending machine service. We are delivering locally to begin but this will be extended to Yorkshire, then nationally. Our intention is to use local firms to support our business.

"I am an ex-professional golfer, and when I came out of the business about 13 years ago I started work in the corporate sales environment.

"I went from healthy eating to not, because there weren't really any great options available. I was constantly rushing around, so grabbing what was available from the vending machine or sandwich van or shop."

Chris's business, which sprung into action on Friday, delivers food across West Yorkshire.

He said: "Family and friends think it's great.

"My sister has lost a stone in 10 days by using our meal plans, which are soup and low fat crisps called Crips, and a fruit and nut bar. It's under 300 calories and 2.99 per day."
