Pink and glitter for our party girls
SUGAR and spice and all things nice – not a business formula most companies are familiar with, but for the founders of Pretty Little Princess Parties, it has been vital to their success.
The idea for the parties, which are aimed at girls aged between three and 12, came from Cleckheaton mum Lisa Simpson and her friend Mel Horwood-Hirst, of Hightown.
The women became friends when their daughters, Libby and Jessica, were at school together and soon put their business heads together. Lisa said: "I work part-time and I was looking to start a business which involved working with children. The idea for the parties just came naturally. There isn't anything like it locally and when I spoke to Mel about it she thought it was a great idea."
The parties range from rag doll and bear-making to spa days and can be tailored to fit the child and their parents' particular needs.
Mel said: "The original princess party involves a lot of pink and glitter, the girls wear tiaras and we do a pretend champagne fountain which they absolutely love.
"We also have themed parties including Hannah Montana and High School Musical. For the older children we do makeovers and spa parties with a hand soak, foot spas, face masks and nail art.
"We can supply fabulous giant cupcakes and small cupcakes with a variety of flavours and toppings which can be matched to each party theme.
"There are some optional extras on top of the parties including a red carpet arrival.
"Parents can relax, enjoy the day and just take pictures."
