Parish prepares for panto

SLEEPING Beauty will be getting some shut-eye in Mirfield when a church group puts on its pantomime.

The classic story will be told by amateur thespians at St Mary’s church, who will be marking their 63rd performance.

Committee member Wendy Storey said: “We have a large and talented cast, as ever, and all are local so there is a great sense of community spirit which we encourage.”

The show at St Mary’s Parish Centre in Church Lane will start at 7.15pm on February 1, 2 and 3, with two performances on Saturday February 4 starting at 1.30pm and 6pm.

Wendy said: “This year we are very excited as we have a more modern script which embraces the traditional but also involves a more modern trend.

“We hope as always to have a great time and ask as many people as possible to come along and support us. It is brilliant fun.”

Tickets for the first show cost £3.50. For all other performances, adults will be charged £5.50 and concessions £3.50.
