Academy’s achivements celebrated at awards

Students at The Morley Academy celebrated their achievements at the annual Prize Presentation Evening which sees students from all year groups being rewarded for their attendance, effort and achievement from the previous academic year.

Staff, students, parents and carers were joined by local dignitaries including the Chair of Governors, Karen Lawson and Coun Helen Evans, the Deputy Mayor of Morley, to see students collecting their awards presented by guest speaker, Sir John Townsley.

Prior to the awards the guests heard inspirational speeches and a selection of solo musical performances from students at the academy.

Principal Mrs Leanne Griffiths, said: “It is one of my favourite nights of the academy’s calendar.

“It is wonderful to celebrate the students’ achievements surrounded by their family members.

“We are very proud of all of our students.”
