Arts and crafts, ball games and tai chi kept visitors entertained at a family fun day this weekend.

Arthritis Care and the Leeds General Infirmary Paediatric Rheumatology Team hosted the event at Batley Sports and Tennis Centre on Windmill Lane, Howden Clough on Saturday to help young people with arthritis.

Table tennis star and arthritis sufferer Hannah Coulthurst, who represented England in the 2010 Commonwealth Games, shared her ping pong tips at the event and one lucky family won a family ticket for four to Lightwater Valley theme park.

Volunteer services supervisor Rosemary Hassman said: “It was a very successful day and the families gave us great feedback.”

Tips on pain management and a talk from the rheumatology team were also available on the day.

The charity now plans on working for funding for pain management and confidence building courses and encourages more people and families to get in touch.
