Ballet school glory for girls

Seven girls from the Heckmondwike-based Stuart Stage School have successfully auditioned for places at two of the world's most prestigious ballet establishments.

Pollyanna Featherstone, 13, Madeleine Grogan, 12, and Elaina Varazinskis, 10, have all been offered further training with the Royal Ballet School on the schools junior and mid associate programme.

Lillyella Featherstone, 15, Emily Brown, 13, and Maddy Grogan were offered further training with the Northern Ballet Associates, while Layla Jones, 11, and Bailey Cook, 10, have joined the programme after auditioning in the summer.

Principal Jill Stuart said: “We are extremely proud of the girls who have worked hard for this. The teachers must also take some credit for the success.”
