A Batley gallery will honour a Yorkshire painter whose work has travelled worldwide.

The Smart Gallery, based at Redbrick Mill, is hosting an exhibition to celebrate the work of painter Peter Brook, who passed away in 2009.

The former art teacher had his work exhibited around the world and was known for his landscapes, inspired by the Pennines, and featuring himself and his dog in his work.

In 2009 and 2011, his work was featured in the Tate Gallery desk diary, and original pieces have fetched high prices at auction.

This weekend the gallery will showcase a collection of his work, including rare originals and signed prints.

And on Sunday, folk singer Roger Davies, who wrote a song titled Peter Brook’s Paintings, will perform in the gallery, 1.30pm-3.30pm.

The exhibition will run for one week.
