Brave teacher shaves his hair in the name of charity

An assistant head teacher has had his hair shaved off in the name of charity.

Matt Brayford, who is part of the senior management team at Upper Batley High School, had his locks snipped off as part of the secondary’s fundraising efforts for Macmillan Cancer Support last week.

The boys’ school raised a total of £850 from the day, and Mr Brayford braved the shave at the hands of Floyd’s Barbers from Huddersfield.

Head teacher Sam Vickers said: “Cancer is an illness which has affected many members of our learning community and we all need to do whatever we can to support the amazing work of the Macmillan nurses and the medical research and development work in this area.

“The success of Friday morning shows the high quality student leadership we have in school and our students were exemplary in their baking, tea and coffee making and they even ran tours of our school so parents and prospective parents could see our school, see outstanding lessons taking place and see our excellent facilities. An amazing morning was had by all!”
