Bagshaw Museum in Batley will mark Black History Month with a major exhibition of African artefacts.
Visitors will have the chance to step back in time and view shields from the mighty Zulu warriors, as well as Hausa leatherwork and rhinoceros hides, in the Wilton Park museum throughout October.
There will also be examples of shields and swords from the Sudan, African art and costume, and macabre souvenirs like a necklace taken from a dead Dervish soldier, who were renowned for their resistance against Britain and Italy.
Organisers hope the exhibition will provide visitors with the chance to appreciate African culture by viewing the assortment of artefacts.
The exhibition is open from Tuesday-Friday, 11am-5pm, and Saturday and Sunday, noon-5pm.
