Centre cash boost

Patients and staff at a palliative day support and therapy centre have thanked fundraisers for their support.

The Rosewood Centre at Dewsbury and District Hospital was given more than £1,200 by Sainsbury’s in Dewsbury, which had named the centre its chosen charity of the year.

Supermarket staff hosted cake stalls, quizzes, raffles and collections throughout the year, while Dewsbury Sports Centre and Dewsbury Rams backed a bag pack.

Sainsbury’s raised a further £1,200 for the centre as part its Local Heroes scheme last October and gave a further £500 at Christmas.

Senior sister Julie Pagan said: “This money will make such a difference to our patients. It will help to buy oils for aromatherapy, which really does benefit our patients, and art materials – things that the patients can use for relaxation and to create gifts for their friends and family.

“It will also help to pay for plants for the garden.”
