Characters booked up for a fun day

Upper Batley High School got to celebrate World Book Day after it had to be cancelled due to the bad weather.

Staff surprised pupils by turning up as witches, fairies, scary dentists and Wally from the Where’s Wally books.

There was even a Paddington bear along with some funny looking mice.

Albert Einstein, Captain Underpants and Father Christmas also turned up to celebrate this fantastic day.

Pupils listened to guest speaker Steve Ince who is a writer and game designer.

Headteacher Sam Vickers said: “This is a great day for our learners to have an appreciation of the value of books and reading for pleasure.”
