A dedicated dinner lady has been awarded in the Queen’s New Year Honours for services to education.
Gaynor Clegg, 75, will receive a British Empire Medal after 43 years working at Ravensthorpe Junior School.
The loyal senior lunchtime supervisor said during her 40th anniversary celebrations at the school – where she still works five days a week – that she wants to have her ashes scattered there.
Mrs Clegg, of Field Lane, Ravensthorpe, said at the time: “It’s a very friendly school, it’s in a nice village and all the children come from Ravensthorpe .
“I’ve been dinnder lady to their mums and dads, and in some cases their grandparents.”
