Kirklees College Construction team leader Paul Toher said: “Winners were nominated by their tutors because they demonstrated outstanding achievements within their trade area through exceptional coursework, excellent course grades, overcoming personal or professional adversity or for their overall attitude and work ethic.

“All these students deserve their award for all the hard work they have put in. We are extremely proud of them and their achievements.”

Employers SPS Plumbers from Mirfield were also recognised at the ceremony, for their contribution to student development.

Mr Toher added: “These employers have gone over and above to help our learners achieve.

“This ranged from placing the learners in positions of responsibility to engaging with tutors to monitor and help the learners meet their course target.”
