Fire breaks out at Batley Working Men’s Club

Crews from Dewsbury, Rastrick, Stanningley, Morley and Ossett were called to the club on Wellington Street at 1.15pm on Thursday.

The fire was believed to have started on the ground floor of the building and spread to the first floor.

Around 70 per cent of the building was affected by the blaze.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said no-one was inside the club and no-one has been injured.

Wellington Street was closed in both directions between Commercial Street junction and Purlwell Lane junction while emergency services were at the scene.
