Girl, 12, punched during attempted robbery in Earlsheaton

A GIRL was punched twice by a teenager who tried to steal her mobile phone.

The 12-year-old was in High Road, Earlsheaton, on the afternoon of May 28 when a teenage girl on the opposite side of the road beckoned her over.

The teenager asked the girl if she knew where the bus stop was, before grabbing her and demanding her mobile phone.

The girl resisted and was punched twice by the teenager who walked away empty handed in the direction of Ossett Lane.

Police today released details of the attempted robbery, which took place at around 4.40pm near the High Road and Town Street junction.

The would-be robber is described as white, aged 16 or 17, 5ft 4in and chubby.

She was wearing badly applied eyeliner and had dark hair with a reddish colour scraped back into a bun. She wore a pink vest top and black leggings.
