Go bananas for health

I AM writing to encourage schools and companies in the local area to hold their own 'Go Bananas on Fruity Friday!' event.

We at World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) are calling for local schools and companies to get involved in our Fruity Friday campaign by holding their own 'Go Bananas by dressing down in yellow day' to help raise funds for us.

The fundraising and awareness campaign takes place throughout the UK on May 14. It aims to encourage people to incorporate more fruit (and vegetables) into their diet, as well as increase public awareness about the link between diet, physical activity and cancer prevention.

Putting on an event like 'Go Bananas!' for Fruity Friday is a great way to get the message out to employees and pupils that a healthy diet with at least five portions a day could decrease their risk of cancer.

We have lots of materials in our downloadable fundraising pack. For more information about Fruity Friday, sponsored by Dole Fresh UK, (www.dolefreshuk.com), visit www.fruityfriday.org where you can find information about how to organise your own 'dress down in yellow' day.'
