Mirfield Rifle Volunteers (MRV), a group run by veterans and like-minded individuals dedicated to raising money for service and other local causes, have presented cheques to two charities.

The group’s members presented a cheque to Terry Grayshon, branch chairman of armed forces charity SSAFA for £1,000. Representing MRV were Sean Guy, Tracy Carter, Van Carter and Tim Wood.

The other charity, which has already received their cheque earlier in the year, was St Andrew’s Church Dementia Care.

Fundraising events in 2017 included a “Tour de Mirfield” bike ride in the Cooperative supermarket, bake sales, and a Christmas Brass Band Concert with Grange Moor Brass Band.
