Imans and vicars take to the crease

A cricket match between vicars and imams will take place this weekend.

The event will go ahead at the Sands Lane playing fields in Dewsbury at 11am on Saturday.

Dewsbury-based Community group Kumon Y’all organised the game after successful football tournaments over the last three years has created community links.

People who have met at the competitions havegone on to organise a litter pick in Dewsbury Moor, an archery session in Thornhill and a presentation a Staincliffe Working Men’s Club.

Players wills include the Rev Brunel James, Farook Yunus, Molana Mohammed Kola and the Rev Mark Umpleby

The Rt Rev Tony Robinson, the Bishop of Wakefield, will also be joining the priest’s cricket team in the game.

It will be an 11-a-side match in which each player bast for two overs and will bowl two overs.

It is hoped there will be a large turnout for the event, at which there will be free food and kids activities such as a bouncy castle and archery.
