“We will be sending one of these down to the palace so that the baby has one to keep warm in this winter.”

The blanket, made from royal cashmere, has been derived from the first clip of the cashmere goat, and embroidered with red, white and blue, and an embroidered crown and ‘2013’ branded on the material.

Managing director Jayne Woodthorpe said: “The birth of the heir to the throne is a very special occasion, and such a precious baby deserves most precious of fibres.

“We are proud to represent the best of Yorkshire manufacturing with our lovely gift. The utmost care has been taken to make this the perfect blanket for the future king or queen.”

The blankets retail at £139 but you can buy one direct from the mill for £99. The price includes a gift box.

The company was founded by Joshua Ellis, and has been running for more than 200 years at the heart of the textile industry.
