The management, staff and children at the Little Acorns Nursery in Mirfield are celebrating a ‘good’ Ofsted report.

The Ofsted inspector rated the nursery as ‘good’ in: Effectiveness of the leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare and outcomes for children.

During the latest visit to Little Acorns the inspector found that the staff plan a range of challenging activities that are well matched to children’s interests.

As a result, children develop a wide range of skills.

They also work closely with parents to provide regular updates about children’s care and education.

The report said: “Leaders and managers are ambitious. They have developed effective systems for supervising and monitoring the work of staff.

“Staff attend regular early years training which helps to ensure that their interactions with the children are good.”

Inspectors also discovered the children have developed strong relationships with their carers and that staff are highly responsive to children’s individual needs which supports their emotional well-being. One of the reasons it was not rated ‘outstanding’ was that ‘systems to monitor the progress of different groups of children are not yet fully developed’.

The inspector reviewed a wide range of documentation, listened to parents’ views, and observed staff’s interactions with the children during the nursery visit.
