The 41-year-old woman was walking through the railway tunnel between Crackenedge Lane and Lower Peel Street at around 1.50pm on Monday when the men spun her around and demanded cash.

The robbers searched the woman’s pockets, took the money and ran off down Lower Peel Street and Bradford Road.

The woman, who had a minor head injury, has given descriptions of the two white men.

The first was in his 40s, around 5ft 8ins tall and scruffy. He was unshaven and wore a black hat with tassles over his ears, a black hooded top with a red logo on the upper left arm, and dark jogging bottoms. He also wore a pink plastic ring on the little finger of his left hand.

The second man was in his twenties, slim and had a drawn complexion. He was around 5ft 2ins tall and wore a blue, padded checked shirt and black jeans. He was carrying a piece of black piping, although this was not used as a weapon.
