“Julie has engendered a love of music and singing at the school,” she said.

“They will be hard shoes to fill. She’s a great musician and recording artist.”

Julie said: “It was a bit emotional after all that time saying goodbye to pupils and colleagues.”

After spending three-and-a-half years as a class teacher, Julie changed roles and was the music teacher for the remainder of her stay at the school.

She said: “I’ll miss the relationships and banter you have with colleagues.”

She said the school was fortunate to have good music facilities, including drums.

Julie intends to continue giving private music tuition and work with a food bank set up by the United Reformed Church in Morley.

Mrs Butcher has also left the school after four years of service.
