Overthorpe’s Tenants and Residents Association recently arranged a canal boat trip with the Safe Anchor Trust for 20 Thornhill people.
Several residents from Charlesworth Court retirement and sheltered housing accommodation were among the party.
Meat pie with mushy peas was served for lunch with a selection of deserts, as well as tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the four-hour boat trip.
The weather smiled on the outing supplying a pleasant dry day and everyone onboard the two boats had a thoroughly great time which included some dancing.
A spokesman said afterwards: “This was an ideal opportunity for elderly residents to take part in a community get-together relaxing and meeting with other people.
“The safe at Safe Anchor Trust at Mirfield is also to be commended for their help and patience throughout the trip.
“A great day out for everyone and meeting other members of the community.”
