Police name motorcyclist in fatal Dewsbury crash

POLICE have named a motorcyclist who died after he was seriously injured in a road accident.

James Haigh, 32, was seriously injured in Huddersfield Road, Dewsbury, at 6.46am on Wednesday.

He was taken to Dewsbury and District Hospital but died of his injuries. No-one else was hurt.

Mr Haigh, of Dalton, Huddersfield, was riding a Suzuki GSX 125 along Huddersfield Road towards Dewsbury when he was in a collision with a silver Volkswagen Polo that was travelling in the opposite direction and turning into Temple Road.

Huddersfield Road was closed both ways between Temple Road and Ravenshouse Road from 7am and was re-opened shortly after midday.

Witnesses should call the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101.
