Pupils serve up treats for good causes

Upper Batley High School students recently hosted their very own pop-up cafe and invited staff, learners and guests to raise money for the Jo Cox charity '“ More In Common '“ and the Ummah Welfare Society.

They served coffee, tea, hot chocolate and an array of cakes and buns, as well as showcasing their cooking talents.

A spokesman for the high school said: “Even Betty’s Cafe in Harrogate would have been in envy at their produce. The Learners were thrilled that colleagues from both charities were able to attend, our boys were incredibly excited to meet Jo Cox’s family.

“Jo’s mother, father and sister attended the well-attended coffee morning and chatted to our learners.

“We were absolutely delighted that they made the time to come along for a cake and a chat.”
