The Enterprise Week Challenge asked students to come up with ideas for products that could be made to raise money for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

Six projects where chosen to go to a Dragons’ Den style-event where two ideas were selected by judges Alison Noblet, a retail marketing consultant for Forget Me Not Hospice; Jonathan Rostron, area director for Santander, and Colne Valley MP Jason McCartney.

One of the two winning teams was Lightning Designs – Level 1 students Ben Whiteley from Dewsbury and Leia Allen from Earlsheaton who worked with Level 2 students Zanaib Mamaniat and Nathan Holroyd from Batley, Stephen Newsome from Mirfield and Rose Craig from Brighouse.

They created a tote bag which features a butterfly, ribbons and a forget-me-not flower. It will be sold in the hospice’s stores across West Yorkshire.

Jonathan Rostron said: “We think it will definitely sell and will fly out of the shops.”
