Summer boom in town’s house market

A local estate agent has reported an upturn in the Dewsbury property market.

William H Brown is experiencing a ‘flurry’ of house-hunting activity as clients look to finalise their moves before Christmas.

Jo Hobbs, branch manager, said:“We typically see more people looking to move around this time of the year.

“We usually find that, with the summer holidays over and children returning to school, people turn their attention to moving home, whether they are buying for the first time, upsizing or downsizing.

“ September is an ideal time to start marketing your property if you want to move by the end of the year.”

William H Brown say they are seeing a greater degree of confidence across the market and a high number of would-be buyers registering an interest in buying.

This is good news for sellers, increasing the chance of securing a quick sale.

“We would urge anyone thinking of moving to get in touch and see how we can best service their needs.

“Although there is a lot of activity currently in the local housing market, we still need more houses to sell.

“The opportunities are certainly there and with the right agent there is no reason why vendors should not achieve a quick sale at a good price.”

The firm has also reported buoyancy in the lettings market, with national data revealing an 11 percent increase in the number of viewings of rental homes this June and July and a 15 percent jump in lets.

Traditionally, rental activity slows down during the summer months, so the statistics would appear to buck the trend.

The team have attributed this boom to an increase in people choosing to rent for lifestyle reasons and for the flexibility it offers.

The Dewsbury branch of William H Brown includes a regulated lettings service with an ARLA-qualified agent.

The conduct professional inventories and belong to the Tenancy Deposit Scheme, and also offers property management, rent collection and insurance services.

“Demand for rental accommodation remains very high. We would urge current and prospective landlords to get in touch and see if we can help them make the most of this upturn,” said lettings manager Anne Brody.
