Teen’s bid to help cancer sufferers

Ella Crann, of Moat Hill, Birstall, was diagnosed with stage four rhabdomyosarcoma in May, which has spread around her body.

Joined by her family and friends, she set up a stall at Hornsea Fair in aid of Candlelighters charity last Sunday.

They raised more than £1,600 taking their total to a staggering £3,555.83.

Ella’s auntie Emma Turnbull said they were overwhelmed by the support.

“We had a cake stall and a raffle but when we spoke with the organisers, they gave us a place on the main stage,” she said.

“Ella’s brother Harry got waxed and her cousin Anna Varley had her hair cut for the Little Princess Trust.

“We got on the microphone and told them about the charity and what we were doing. We could not believe the support we received.”

Mrs Turnbull said Ella was having her third cycle of intensive treatment but is recovering well.

“The doctors have said she is doing amazing and when she has a good day, Ella is out doing things like this,” she said.

Ella and her auntie also took part in the Race for Life in Huddersfield earlier this month.

Mrs Turnbull pushed Ella around in her wheelchair and the pair raised £400 for Cancer Research UK.
