Thugs pin down 93-year-old man as they raid his home

The victim, who lives in Spen Vale Street, Heckmondwike, found the men trying to break in through his back door after hearing a noise coming from his garden.

They forced their way inside, with one man pushing the victim back as they did so.

The victim resisted and was pushed down onto a chair and forced to stay there while the other two men searched the house.

All three fled a short time later with some cash and the victim’s bank books.

The incident took place at about 6.10pm.

The first suspect was white, aged 35-40, 5ft 5ins tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a black beanie-type hat, black coat, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

The second man was white, 6ft tall, of average build, wearing a white beanie hat, black bomber-type jacket, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

The third man was white, 5ft 5ins tall, wearing a black beanie hat, black coat, black tracksuit bottoms and dark trainers.

Det Insp Stef Wiseman, of Kirklees CID, said: “Detectives are investigating this incident, which given the age of the victim, could have had extremely serious consequences.

“I think many residents would rightly be shocked at the thought that three men would man-handle and restrain a 93-year-old man inside his own home and I would ask anyone who witnessed this offence or has information to contact police.
