Town’s parade to mark Eid Milad

A procession organised by mosques in North Kirklees will mark the Muslim festival Eid Milad.

The event will celebrate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad and is expected to attract about 800 people.

The parade will begin at High Street Mosque, in Westtown, Dewsbury, on Sunday December 28 and will head to the mosque in Warren Street, Savile Town.

Stories will be told about the life of the prophet and the parade will include songs of praise.

Food will be served to visitors.

In Islam, Muhammad is considered to be the most important messenger of God.

The procession will run 3pm-4pm and was organised by the mosques of Dewsbury, Batley and Heckmondwike.
