The Right Revd Marcus Stock said: “This evening is particularly important because we are going to be remembering in our prayers to pray for the repose of the soul of Jo Cox.

And also Councillor Peter O’Neil who died earlier this year, we remember them in our prayers and will pray for the comfort in faith of their family and friends.”

The Very Reverend Canon John Aveyard, Dean of Dewsbury, also paid tribute to Bernard Kenny, who was injured while trying to help Mrs Cox. Following prayers the procession proceeded to St Mary of the Angels church for benediction.
