The West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s CityConnect programme has announced it will be working with Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking, to deliver CityConnect Walking.

The benefits of building walking into everyday life will be shared by organising walking challenges, providing walking routes advice, producing walking maps, and recruiting walking champions through employers, apprentice hubs, Jobcentre Plus offices and higher education institutions.

Jenny Wiles at Living Streets said: “Fitting more exercise into our day can be tough but choosing to walk our short, everyday journeys is an easy way for people to get more active, helping to maintain a healthy weight and prevent chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and depression.

“We’re thrilled to be working with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.”
