THIS WEEK’S PAPER
The mother of a 16-month old boy born with a life threatening condition has made a heartfelt plea for locals to help save their children’s heart surgery unit.
Alfie Book was born with half a heart, and in his short life has become dependant on the unit at Leeds General Infirmary, which is threatened with closure.
ALSO: A Batley councillor has returned from Pakistan where he was delivering aid to the flood-hot regions of the country. Coun Hanif Mayet was in a group of three who travelled the four corners of Pakistan, distributing aid worth £90,000 raised by the people of Batley.
AND FINALLY: See how everyone celebrated the Royal Wedding last week with a picture special and a 30 year reunion for a group of former Batley Grammar School pupils.
Don’t miss all this, plus another great Disney book giveaway, only in this week’s Batley and Birstall News, out tomorrow.
