The post-punk throb of bands such as The Cramps, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sisters of Mercy and others could be heard booming from ‘X’ on Station Road club above where Cellar Bar now is.

Renewed interest in Xclusiv surfaced after a documentary made in the club’s 1980s heyday was posted on YouTube by an old regular who found the video.

Previous Xclusiv reunions have been successful, but after the building it used to operate from was bought, organiser Dave Taylor has been allowed to put the event on there. It will take place on Saturday, November 28 for children’s charity Barnardo’s.”

Mr Taylor said: “It would be great to see some of the faces that were in the video. It was a great to go to a place that played music that they didn’t usually play everywhere else.”

However, while one room will feature classic Xclusiv sounds another will play some of the previously sacrilege 1980s pop hits to broaden out the night’s appeal.

Tickets for the event, which cost £7, are available from Cellar Bar.

Mr Taylor said: “Hopefully we’ll raise a substantial amount of money for the charity and people will have a great evening to boot.”

He thanked the new owners Graham and Sam as well as friends Tom, Dom and Krista who will run the event and have done publicity.
