Batley Boys Under-12s have had a fantastic season winning every trophy available to them.
Their incredible trophy haul included the BARLA Yorkshire and Humberside Cup, Yorkshire Juniors Challenge Cup, Heavy Woollen Gary Talbot Cup, Rhinos Challenge Cup and the Yorkshire Juniors League Division One championship.
The Boys’ season started back on November 7 with the BARLA Yorkshire Cup first round and they went on to progress through five rounds to reach the final against Kippax at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Hunslet in January.
A thrilling match resulted in a 20-18 win for the Boys and the team went on to parade the trophy at Batley Bulldogs and Huddersfield Giants matches.
The Boys also began fundraising for their upcoming Rhinos Challenge, which culminated in them climbing 3,560 feet up Mount Snowdon, encountering eight inches of snow at the summit and a wind chill of -10 degrees.
The Boys’ fantastic effort meant they self-funded for the Rhinos Challenge tournament at Skegness in May.
Batley Boys were unbeaten throughout the Rhinos Challenge, winning the final against Castleford Lock Lane 6-3 before embarking on their Yorkshire Juniors Challenge Cup and Gary Talbot Cup campaigns.
They met Lock Lane in the final of the Yorkshire Challenge Cup, at Featherstone Rovers in June, which the Boys won 40-4.
The Gary Talbot final was against Shaw Cross when the Boys claimed a fourth trophy, winning 30-14.
The Yorkshire Junior League came down to a race between Batley Boys and Castleford Lock Lane.
The Boys clinched the title with one game to go, following another great match against their title rivals, and completed the five trophy haul.
The Under-12s were invited to a coaching session at Huddersfield Giants and the team provided mascots before a match and were also invited to a game at Wigan.
The Under-12s squad have also enjoyed a series of non-rugby trips during the year, with the team’s coaches organising outings to Barnsley Metrodome, trampolining, foot golf and Doncaster Dome.
