The Sykes-Campbell Commonwealth title fight plays chief support to the IBF World welterweight title clash between Sheffield’s Kell Brook and Canada’s Kevin Bizier.

Sykes will travel to Sheffield this afternoon (Thursday) for the official press conference, while the weigh-in, which is open to the public, will be held at the Winter Gardens tomorrow at 1pm.

Sykes took delivery of his custom made shorts earlier this week, bearing the name of both his daughters.

Traditionally Sykes’s fight shorts have always had the name of first daughter Layla across the front but this is his first title shot since the arrival of second daughter Dolly.

The girls’ names will be down each leg of the shorts, while sponsors Henley Stone have their logo across the waist band.

Sykes said: “I’m delighted with the shorts, which have been custom made by Fight Label in Sheffield.

“I can’t thank Shaun, of Henley Stone, enough. They have been fantastic towards me and ensured I have been able to stay in boxing despite being out of the limelight.”

Sykes has been working hard under the guidance of Sean O’Hagen — father and trainer of Leeds star Josh Warrington — and Mark Hurley at Dicky’s Gym in Batley.

Sykes admits his camp couldn’t have gone any better and knows springing an upset on Saturday could propel him into bigger fights on the lightweight scene.

Tickets priced at £40, £60, £80, £100 and £150 are on sale from the Sheffield Arena on 0114 2565656 and at www.sheffieldarena.co.uk.
