BREAKING NEWS: Simon Grayson departs Leeds United

LEEDS United have dispensed with the services of manager Simon Grayson and his coaching staff after three years in charge.

Grayson’s sacking comes on the back of Tuesday night’s 4-1 defeat at the hands of Birmingham City.

A statement from chief executive Shaun Harvey on Leeds United’s website, said: “We have 18 games to go and are still within touching distance of the play-offs but felt with the transfer window now closed we needed to make the change at this time in the belief that a new managerial team will be able to get more out of the existing squad of players and make the difference.

“Simon and the staff have given over three years service and we would like to place on record our thanks and wish them well for the future.”

Current youth team manager Neil Redfearn has been placed in temporary charge.
